I spoke last night to a Bryn Mawr College journalism class taught by my friend and former colleague Tom Ferrick. Here is his very kind note to me after:
“Mike: I love you. You were an inspiration to the kids in the class. I asked them later for take aways from your talk and I think, for the first time, they began to get what reporting is and what is means and the impact it can have. They talked for 20 mins about it.
Also, and not surprisingly, you reinforced what I have been stressing endlessly, repeatedly, constantly in the class — that good reporting is the sine qua non of good writing. It also reminds me of the joy that being a reporter brings. Haven’t we had a wonderful life?
Thanks.
Tom”
